OrySun Color Rendering Index and Color S

F.A.Q

  • What is CRI?

CRI stands for Color Rendering Index. It is a measure of a light source's ability to show object colors "realistically" or "naturally" compared to a familiar reference source, either incandescent light or sunlight.

  • How important is CRI to LED light?

CRI is important for those who want to view their surrounding home environment in its “natural” colors, they way furniture, wall colors etc. would look if they were exposed to direct sun light.

  • How important is CRI to ceiling light?

To those who value color authenticity, when they want it, it is very important.

  • What is the LED light spectrum?

It is the light intensity and distribution of the LED light source, over light wave lengths from short UV and blue wave length (320nm and less), and up to dark red and infra-red long wave length (720nm and up).

  • What is the visible daylight spectrum?

Visible daylight spectrum is represented by color temperature and varies from dusk at 2700K, to noon time at 5500K and to dawn at 4000K.The  is the segment of the  that the human eye can view. More simply, this range of wavelengths is called . Typically, the human eye can detect wavelengths from 380 to 700nm.

  • Do LEDs Have Ultraviolet (UV) Light? Only special made LED's can provide UV light.

Yes, unless special LED diodes are used, white LEDs produce low intensity UV light. However, they emit less UV light than fluorescent and incandescent bulbs. This means less damage on furniture, paint, and fabrics.

  • How Efficient are LEDs Compared to Traditional Light Bulbs?

Generally speaking, LEDs are up to 90% more efficient than incandescent bulbs. LED lights last longer than traditional incandescent and fluorescent bulbs.

  • What Colors are Available with LEDs?

LED lights are available in most colors, but RGB (Red, Green and Blue) colors are generally used to create the visible light spectrum with remote control for color selection. This way, Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, pink, and purple are all options. Most regular light LEDs are classified as a different type of white. The main colors are “warm white” and “bright white”.

  • Is LED Lighting Only for Commercial Properties?

No, LED lighting is used at commercial and residential applications.

  • Where can I Use LED Lighting in My Home?

LED lighting makes great home lighting in all areas provided that it is blue free. Blue free is important because the blue color that is also part of warm and white color in most LED light sources, suppresses our body Melatonin hormone generation which is essential for relaxation and sleep promotion.

  • Are LED Lights More Expensive to Install?

No, most LED lamps are built in a way that it will be just as much work to install them compared to any other type of lamp.

  • Do LEDs Emit Heat?

LED lamps produce less heat than traditional light bulbs.

  • What is the Difference between Efficacy and Efficiency?

Efficacy is expressed in lumens per watt, where efficiency is expressed in a percentage of the LED efficiency.

  • Are LED Lights for indoor or outdoor Use?

LED lights are used for both indoor and outdoor applications. Depending on the application there are LEDs that are water proof, and withstand extreme temperatures.

  • Do LED Lights Work Better than Other Lights in Cold Weather?

When temperatures drop in winter, LEDs are able to operate below 20 degrees.

  • Are LED Lights Waterproof?

Depending on the application, there are LED lights that are waterproof or at least water-resistant. There are even LED lights specifically for use in and around pools.

  • What are the Benefits of Light Dimmers for LEDs?

Dimming is a feature to help you to control the light intensity produced by the lamp. A good quality dimmer also helps to save electricity.

  • How Many Years Do LEDs Last?

It all depends on the quality of the LED diodes used in the lamp, the quality of the lamp construction especially how the LED's diodes generated heat is treated to avoid overheating, and the number of hours the lamp is used per year. Generally speaking, LED lamps will last from a couple of thousand hours to 100,000 hours.

  • How Much Work Is It to Replace Traditional Light Bulbs with LED Lights?

Certain LED lights may require new bases to be installed. Custom lighting like LED tubes or Versa lights will need to be professionally installed. Overall, there’s more to adding new LED lights to a home or business than simply switching a bulb. Have a look at the lamp installation guide and you will have a better knowledge of what will you have to deal with.
